ANCHORS


The Duckbill Complete is sand cast from high grade alluminum alloy. Its unique design has more holding power than conventional anchors at 10,000 times its weight. It requires only a drive rod, hammer, drill or driver, and can be easily installed. The load capacity of the anchor depends on anchor depth, placement, and soil conditions.

Our Arrowhead Anchors are manufactured from heavy gauge steel with 5,500 lbs holding power. Standard anchors are 1/4" diameter galvanized steel cable and 48" in overall length.

Soil Class and Description
Class 1 - Solid bed rock
Class 2 - Dense clay; compact gravel; dense fine sand; laminated rock; slate; schist; sandstone.
Class 3 - Shale; broken bed rock; hardpan; compact clay-gravel mixtures.
Class 4 - Gravel; compact gravel and sand; claypan.
Class 5 - Medium-firm clay: loose sand and gravel; compact coarse sand.
Class 6 - Soft clay; loose coarse sand; clay silt; compact fine sand.
Class 7 - Fill; loose fine sand; wet clays; silt.
Class 8 - Swamp; marsh; saturated silt; humus.
Class 9 - Concrete pad.

Soil Test Methods
-Soil resistance to anchor driving is a good indication of soil type.
-Soft soil is indicated by less resistance (place the anchor deeper in order  to achieve maximum strength)

Torque Probe Reading
For specific data on soil classification, a Soil test probe provides a simple means of measuring sub-soil values without core samples. A ratchet handle torque wrench, slides up and down the probe shaft  and is used to install then retract the probe. Torque wrench readings in inch:pounds provide a way to measure the consistency of the sub-soil. Torque values translate into soil classifications and multiple measurements can be made at as many depths as required.
